Together we can put an end to the suffering of wild animals for fashion!

Each year millions of wild animals endure suffering, then slaughter, so that their fur, skins or feathers can be used to make clothes, shoes, bags and other accessories.

As a fashion industry professional, we need YOU to add your voice to our campaign by signing a statement of support, calling on the BFC to ban all wild animal materials from their shows. Read the statement below and then add your name.

Statement of support

The future of fashion is wildlife free. But right now, animals like mink, crocodiles and ostriches are enduring a lifetime of suffering so that clothes made from their fur, skins and feathers can be sold for profit — despite the existence of responsible and desirable alternative materials.

We believe the British Fashion Council is in a powerful position to change things. We applaud the British Fashion Council’s landmark decision in 2023 to ban fur from London Fashion Week, making it the first of the ‘big four’ to do so. Now, it’s time to protect all wild animals from suffering for fashion and rule out skins and feathers too. Only then will London Fashion Week be a true leader for wildlife-free fashion.

London Fashion Week is one of the world’s most fearless, innovative and influential fashion events. Where it leads, others follow. But when it comes to protecting wildlife, it’s behind the curve. Melbourne, Copenhagen and Berlin fashion weeks have all banned wild animals’ skin, fur and feathers from their catwalks.

Protecting wild animals must be an integral part of the British Fashion Council’s commitment to sustainable fashion. In London Fashion Week’s 40th year, this couldn’t be more urgent. It took four decades to go fur-free – reptiles, birds and others just can’t wait that long for a ban on wild animal skins and feathers.

We love fashion, and we love animals too. That’s why we’re asking the British Fashion Council to ban wild animals’ skins and feathers from all London Fashion Week events.
